Dr Omotoso, who also corroborated the Deputy Speaker, disclosed that the petition bordered on 10 major issues, namely; Construction of new civic centre, construction of new governor’s office, mismanagement of the N25bn bond and N5bn commercial bank loan, construction of new government house, diversion of State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) N852.9 million, fraudulent purchase of 156 units of Ford vehicles from Coscharis Motors, inflation of road contracts, among others.

Also, Hon Animasaun said the State House of Assembly could no longer pretend as if nothing was wrong in the face of the monumental looting of the State treasury perpetrated by immediate past APC government of Fayemi, hence the complaint to the EFCC.

The petition, which was accompanied with several documents read; “Consequent upon the resolution of the House of Assembly, we write to request for the investigation of the following allegations of fraudulent practices against the former Governor of Ekiti State and incumbent Minister of Solid Minerals, Dr Kayode Fayemi and others. Man beheads a woman in a park in Aba (photo)

A 20-year-old man identified as Emmanuel Effiong has said he beheaded a woman at the Aba park on the instructions of a mad woman, who allegedly advised him to throw a human head into a river or he would go mad.

“I gave a mad woman money one day in Aba and she told me to look for a skull or human head and throw inside a river or I will go mad.

“One morning, when I saw a lifeless body in front of the park, I decided to cut off the dead woman’s head for the exercise. I threw the head into the Aba River to remain a normal person,” he said.

Effiong made the confession while in the custody of the police. He had been arrested by police operatives in Aba, Abia State in connection with a threat to kidnap and kill one Ikechukwu Udogu.

It was gathered that the search for Effiong started when the police got the information that an unknown person, through a phone text, threatened to kill one Udogu, if he failed to pay him a N15m ransom.

It was learnt that police operatives attached to the Central Police Station, Aba, swung into action and arrested the suspect with the mobile phone number used in sending the threat message.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Adeleye Oyabade, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect, said he confessed to the crime.

Oyebade added that the suspect also confessed that he was behind the headless woman found on September 29, 2016 at the Aba main motor park.

He said three knives and a phone were recovered from the suspect, adding that investigation was in progress to unravel the mystery behind the dastardly act.

Speaking with Southern City News, Effiong, who said he hails from Ikot Edet in Akwa Ibom State, accepted that he demanded the ransom from Udogu for refusing to pay him his salary since September 2009.

He said, “I served Mr. Udogu for many years as his gateman, but he stopped paying my salary since September 2009. So, I decided to send him the threat message to get my money from him.”

2 PDP lawmakers defect to APC

– The APC now has firm control with the majority of 13 to 8 in the Plateau state House of Assembly

– This is due to the defection of two PDP lawmakers, Yusuf Gagdi and Na’anlong Daniel.

– The duo said they decided to dump the PDP because of the current leadership tussle rocking the party

The deputy speaker of Plateau state House of Assembly, Yusuf Gagdi, and the minority whip, Na’anlong Daniel, have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Party (APC).

The speaker, Peter Azi, read their letters of defection during plenary on Tuesday, October 25, Vanguard reports.

Their decision to move to the ruling party in the state was due to PDP’s leadership crisis in the state.

The two defectors said they were pressurized by the members of their constituencies to defect to the APC.

Having consulted widely with their constituents, they decided to defect to the ruling party to remain focused and give their people a better representation.

Gagdi and Daniel pledged their loyalty to the party.

The defectors were welcomed by the speaker and other members of the APC, assuring them that the party does not against members.

Reacting to the defection, the PDP in the state condemned their action, describing it as unconstitutional and unacceptable.

The party said it would exhaust all constitutional means to reclaim its mandate.

At the beginning of the 8th assembly, the PDP had the majority lawmakers.

However, the latest defection by the PDP lawmakers has put the APC in firm control with the majority of 13 to 8.

The former governor of Plateau state, and senator representing Plateau central at the Senate, Joshua Dariye defected from the PDP to the APC about a month ago.
